Toy Library Alternatives – Borrow Toys in Ireland

The toy library movement in Ireland is gaining momentum, though there are still many who do not have access to a local community toy library. Find your nearest toy library here>>.

Borrowing toys instead of buying them means less plastic toys are sent to landfill, and children have access to potentially hundreds of toys to suit their age and stage of development. Less clutter at home and swap your toys out for new ones when children outgrow or tire of them!

Toy libraries also offer access to a supportive network of like-minded parents and care-givers.

If you do not have a toy library within easy reach, fear not! There are some alternative ways to borrow toys in Ireland. We round some of them up here:

Clever Tots Toy Club is a ‘toy club’ available nationally from €33.99 per month (for 12-month subscription) catering from children aged up to 3; monthly subscriptions and gift vouchers are available, too.

Dlulukaloo

Dlulukaloo is a gorgeous ‘bricks and mortar’ toy shop based in Greystones, but Vicky and her team also offer rental of larger items such as pikler frames and kitchen helpers, so you can try before buying or borrow for as long as is needed.

The Toy Box runs various play sessions in Ongar and surrounding areas of North Dublin, with the option to take a toy home on a one-month loan.

The Toy Library  is an online platform for rehoming toys, operating similarly to a freecycle page.

Or why not take the plunge and start your own local toy library? It can be a rewarding way to make an impact in your local community and meet and unite like-minded families. Find out more about starting your own community toy library here >>
